Home – About Us
Lyles Street Church of Christ is committed to worshiping God in spirit and in truth.
We are guided by His Word, fully dedicated to supporting our community and leading souls to Christ.

What is the Church of Christ?
The Church of Christ was established in 33 A.D. by Jesus Christ. (Matthew 16:13-19)
There is no creed in the Church of Christ, and we are non-denominational. We believe in the entire Bible, and follow the New Testament, which is our standard of authority today. (Matthew 28:18, Colossians 2:14)
We recognize Christ as the builder and head of the church. The Church of Christ is Christ’s body, and the members are just Christians. (Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:23)
What Are We Commanded to Do?
The Church of Christ is commanded to follow the example of worship established during the lives of the apostles – worshiping in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23-24)
Like the apostles, we gather together on the first day of the week (every Sunday) to conduct the five acts of worship, including:
- Preaching & Teaching: Proclaiming the truth of God’s Word. (Acts 20:7)
- Praying: Lifting our hearts and voices to God in prayer. (James 5:16; Acts 2:42)
- Singing: Making music in our hearts as an offering of praise. (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16)
- Partaking of the Lord’s Supper: Remembering Christ’s sacrifice through communion. (Acts 2:42; 20:7)
- Giving: Cheerfully contributing as stewards of God’s many blessings. (2 Corinthians 9:6-8)
